A breakdown of travel writing

My Role in the Project: As the Sub-Editor for British Airways' in-flight magazine 'High-Life', I am responsible for ensuring the magazine's overall quality and consistency. My duties include overseeing and editing all copy, writing creative content, and proofreading before the magazine goes to print. I strive to ensure that all content adheres to British Airways' guidelines while also evoking a sense of travel desire and inspiration."

My writing process

// There are two main components of my writing: translated editorial and writing original creative copy.

// Research: For the translated editorial, I carefully compare the translated work to the original copy and conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy.

// Challenge: A common issue in editorial translation is the use of direct translation, which often lacks creativity and fails to capture or misunderstand the original context.

This type of translation can be flat and boring, lacking the imagination and inspiration necessary to evoke a desire for travel.

// Storytelling and PR skills: I employ my storytelling and writing skills to edit and create compelling narratives. I sprinkle pixy dust on the flat copy, transforming it into engaging and inspiring content that resonates with readers.
